The entire Life Science course taught me that the learning process can be done in a creative and entertaining manner such as making and reading storybooks, is more effective if one's knowledge and abilities are shared with others and is more productive if done with a group.
For me, the most important idea of the three is the first one because it proves that learning can also be fun and interesting. Most students, especially young ones, are intimidated by their textbooks. They find them boring because they can't understand the concepts easily unlike when they are exposed to storybooks. Stories are a great way of teaching children scientific concepts because the pictures catch their attention and the adventures of the characters interest and excite them. With this, their memory of the lesson would last longer thus improving their grades in school.
This course also made me realize that Life Science is a very complicated yet organized look on life (just by looking on the very long DNA sequences in the Bioinformatics activity), is a very broad subject and is very beneficial to science and to the people.
Life Science is an important branch of science because the study of it contributes a lot to the betterment of the lives of humans, animals, plants and other organisms. It has given us the similarity of all organisms in earth, that humans at 98% similar to monkeys and 80% the same to a banana. It can also give the ancestry of a person and trace the line of genetic diseases to detect if a person is a carrier.
